Improve your network connection
Internet connection… the bane of so many peoples remote working! There is nothing more frustrating than your internet dropping when you’re trying to conduct a professional video meeting.
Luckily, there are a few easy tricks you can implement to improve the strength of your network connection.
1) Upgrade to a wired network
Wi-Fi is probably the least reliable way to connect to a home network. Wiring an Ethernet cable from the router directly into your device is a simple and easy upgrade.
2) Upgrade to a Powerline
Wi-Fi struggles to travel around the entirety of a house. Powerline Ethernet adapters provide an easy solution to get a network connection from one side of the house to the other.
3) Tweak the settings
Changing your routers configuration settings can boost the network connection. It's highly advised to consult an expert when attempting this.
Improve your network security
As we’ve discussed in previous articles, cyber security is currently a big concern for many organisations. The shift to remote working has only increased security risks. It’s no surprise the number of data breaches reported in 2020 was at an all-time high.
With this in mind, the increased security risks to employees are only adding to the stresses of working from home. However, here are a few simple tips to help improve the security of your data.
1) Have a strong password policy
Having a password with a combination of letters, numbers and symbols will greatly improve your security against cyber criminals.
2) Multi-factor authentication
This means that even if cyber criminals get hold of your details, they won’t be able to access your systems/files without secondary authentication.
3) Consider using a password manager
Password managers store passwords on the cloud which benefits from a multi-layered security system. This is much safer than simply recording them on a word document or notes.
Utilise cloud technology
Chances are you’ve heard of cloud computing before. It’s taken the world by storm and it’s showing no sign of slowing down. In an era of remote working, being able to access all of your files and contacts from wherever you are in the world is of high value. Well, cloud computing enables you to do just that, and so much more.
We know how frustrating it can be when you desperately need access to a file however due to not being at your office computer you cannot reach it. A great benefit that comes with the adoption of cloud computing is the amount of flexibility it creates within the workspace. Regardless of where you are working (providing there is an internet connection), you will be able to access all the data that is saved to your businesses cloud server easily and efficiently.
Finally, don’t let remote working get the better of you
